Abubakr Kouyate, African Drummer, Case History

We began promoting Abubakr even before he had a web site, and he started appearing in Google searches right away. Then we built him a simple web site that can be easily printed by teachers and librarians to attach to purchase requests. We began to promote the web site.

Local Celebrity

Now schools and libraries contact him. He gets messages from around the country asking him to perform at colleges, museums, and corporate parties. Last year he performed in a professional stage production, the Houston Christmas Revels. When asked how they heard about him, most new customers say they “found him on the internet.”

They find him, and they contact him, because he has at least 5 of the 10 slots on the first page of Google searches for every search term that applies to him: “African drumming Houston,” “West African drumming Houston,” djembe drum classes Houston,” and so on.

Abubakr not only appears on the first page; he dominates it. He has become a local celebrity in his field, even to people who do not know about African drumming.
